We have carried out a number of refurbishment projects at Darlington Memorial Hospital. These projects were carried out in compressed time scales and within strict financial constraints. The latest project carried out was the Acute Admissions Unit (Ward 14). The programme required all works including design to be carried out within 12 week period. This was achieved with handover taking place on programme on 27 November 2009.
These contracts required intensive project management to meet the Trust’s strict budgetary and time constraints. We were required to liaise closely with the user departments to ensure that they were fully aware of the proposals. Many of these projects were carried out with the user department continuing to operate during the course of the works. This required close coordination to ensure that phasing of the works was carried out in a manner having the least effect on the operation of the departments.
